Unpiloted Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are becoming the weapon of choice in military operations in places such as Iraq and Afghanistan. They are impossible to see without sophisticated equipment, quiet in many applications and able to be armed with deadly weapons. Most important of all perhaps, there is no pilot at risk if the worst should happen and the vehicle lands or is shot down in enemy territory.
They are equally applicable to more peaceful, if not so exciting applications in the civil field. These can include long range surveillance of borders using high technology detection equipment and the more day to day needs of mapping or security monitoring.
A Perth based company has combined its expertise with the resources of Edith Cowan students to develop a number of these vehicles.
At this meeting the Managing Director Chris Mounkley, will be describing what his company has achieved and bringing along a number of UAVs. It is intended to demonstrate the capability of one of these vehicles to fly within a confined space, keeping the area under surveillance and transmitting the video to a screen in real time.
You are invited to join us for this unique experience and to see what is happening in Perth in this exciting technology.
