On Monday, 10th September 2012, the Canberra Branch will hold its inaugural Ian Fleming lecture and dinner in the Great Hall, University House, ANU. The lecture is named for Ian Fleming OBE who inter alia designed the Jindivik and later played a very significant part in the development of Australia’s Defence industry. He was a past President of RAeS Australian Division and gave important lectures to several Branches of RAeS.
The Branch is very pleased to have as its inaugural presenter Air Vice Marshal Colin Thorne, Head of Aerospace Systems Division Defence Materiel Organisation. He will speak on “The Future of the Aircraft Industry”, an important and wide ranging topic, and very appropriate given Ian Fleming’s involvement in the early days of the industry.
The format of the evening will be for the lecture to start at 6pm and to be followed by a dinner. This will be the Branch’s pre-eminent social and technical function. To make it successful we need as many supporters as possible and urge all members and as many colleagues as possible to attend.
The cost is $65 per head payable in advance; it includes a two course dinner with wine. Please pay by posting a cheque/postal order made out to Royal Aeronautical Society Canberra Branch to Robin Stanier at 20 Gouger Street St, Torrens, ACT 2607. Or pay by electronic transfer to our Branch account at Westpac; BSB 732 719, account number 07 2375, account name Royal Aeronautical Society Canberra Branch. In the event of an electronic transfer please identify the payment with your name and also notify Robin of payment details at rstanier@grapevine.com.au
